According to a statement issued from the office of the district police officer, the suspects were arrested in Barang tehsil during an action conducted by the personnel of the local police station on a tip-off.

It said the suspects were riding a motorcycle.

The statement said a party led by DSP circle Abdul Aziz and Barang police station SHO Ihsanullah recovered 50 kilogrammes explosives and two detonators from their possession.

Meanwhile, the Bajaur district administration on Monday placed a ban on display of weapons to ensure conduct of Feb 8 elections in a peaceful manner.

A statement issued here said the deputy commissioner imposed the Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code, which would remain effective till Feb 11, 2024, unless modified or withdrawn earlier.

The statement said the decision was taken in the wake of the recent terror incidents in the district and in line with the reports shared by the intelligence agencies.

The statement, however, said the order shall not be applicable to personnel of law enforcement agencies on duty. The statement said that any one violating the order would be proceeded against under Section 188 of Pakistan Penal Code.

The statement said that the ban was meant to ensure peaceful environment for the conduct of the Feb 8 general elections in the district.
