Rs1m Wapda wire stolen in Okara

OKARA, Feb 28: Wapda power supply wire worth Rs1,024,000 was stolen, while thieves fled away on being warned when they were cutting telephone cable in separate incidents in the district.

Reports said some unidentified thieves stole away 2,738 metre Wapda wire in the city’s periphery near Karmanwala feeder.

Police have registered the case on the report of Wapda SDO concerned.

In the other incident, PTCL SDO Aftab was on his way to Renala Khurd along with some crew on the official vehicle when, near Chak 20/2L on Renala bypass, he allegedly found accused Khurshid Ahmed alias Sheedi, Iftikhar, Waqar and Zulfiqar Ali digging out the phone cable with spades. The SDO warned the accused who managed to escape.

Renal police have registered the case on SDO’s report.

MURDERED: A youth was allegedly murdered by his rival over old enmity on Tuesday.

Reports said a farmer, Muhammad Rafiq, had some enmity with one Sadiq Kharl of Thatta Maddoka. Sadiq allegedly intercepted Rafiq and hit him repeatedly with a hatchet and fled. Rafiq died soon afterwards.

Satgrah police have registered a case after removing the body to DHQ hospital for autopsy.
