ISLAMABAD: Education Secretary Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry on Tuesday urged all federal and provincial stake holders to focus on achieving improved learning outcomes for schoolchildren, especially in pre-primary and primary school grades.

He said this while chairing the first Inter-Provincial Secretaries’ meeting on Foundational Learning Policy and Roadmap.

Secretaries and high government officials from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh as well as senior officials of the ministry attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the progress achieved by federal and provincial education departments towards developing foundational learning policies and roadmaps.

The education secretary informed the participants that the ministry with the support of the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the World Bank had established a Foundational Learning Hub in September 2023 and piloted a project by introducing reading hour in some educational institutions under Federal

Directorate of Education in Islamabad.
