KARACHI: An event to highlight trade and commercial relations between Pakistan and Italy was held on Tuesday.

The event was organised by Power Zone to launch the Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT) Industrial Engines under the patronage of the Consulate of Italy in Karachi.

According to a press release, Consul General of Italy Danilo Giurdanella was the chief guest of the event and Italian Trade Commissioner in Pakistan Salvatore Parano was the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Giurdanella said there had been a constant growth in trade and commercial engagement between Pakistan and Italy, adding that the trade surplus during the period under review was recorded at $624.518 against $316.995 million last year, showing 97.11 per cent growth.

The State Bank of Pakistan recorded the overall exports to Italy at $1151.448m during July-June (2022-2023) against $1087.434m during July-June (2021-2022) showing growth of 5.88pc.

Gianmaria, director FPT Industrial and Mian Ahsan Ali, director of FPT Power Zone were present at the event which was also attended by leaders of industries, manufacturing sector and members of Italian business community.
