GUJRAT: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has formally opened its liaison office in a rented building in a portion of a banquet hall near the Govt Science College on the GT Road.

Initially, half a dozen officials have started working under an assistant director, said an official source.

On the opening day, a number of applicants for attestation, verification and other documentation also visited the office.

With the opening of the MoFA office, the business fraternity, students and overseas Pakistanis belonging to Gujrat and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) regions would save time and expenses on travel to Islamabad and Lahore for verification of their documents.

A large number of Pakistani expats belong to Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum, Wazirabad and AJ&K region are settled across the globe and they have been demanding such a facility close to their cities since long.
