SUKKUR: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has pledged to fulfil the promise of building two million homes to provide relief to the flood-hit people.

Addressing a public gathering at the Rustam Chowk in Shikarpur on Friday, Mr Bhutto-Zardari said that the ownership of the homes will be transferred to the people.

PPP has always thought and worked for the betterment of the people of Sindh, said Mr Bhutto-Zardari.

The people of Sindh love the “party of martyrs” — PPP — from the depth of their hearts.

“We faced a very tough time during the coronavirus pandemic and torrential rains and flood,” the PPP leader said, adding that rations and other goods were delivered to the needy people during the pandemic.

“When torrential rains hit Sindh, I, as the foreign minister, went all over the world and collected money and helped the rain-affected [people] and provided them with relief items,” he said.

“When I became the foreign minister, I was representing the people of Shikarpur all over the world.”

Talking about his visit to Shikarpur, the PPP leader said he was here to appeal to the people to make the PPP candidate successful on February 8.

He urged people to vote for PPP candidates Imtiaz Sheikh, Shehryar Mahar, Bijarani brothers and others.

Mr Bhutto-Zardari lamented that people have been fighting against poverty for the last three generations. He promised to eradicate inflation and provide employment after coming to power.

He recalled that when his mother was contesting the election, the slogan was: ‘Benazir would come and bring livelihood for people’.

“Hence, after coming to power, [PPP] would live up to people’s expectations and complete Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s incomplete mission.”

“The way people of Shikarpur welcomed our rally is a sign that they have given their decision in favour of PPP even before the election,” said the PPP leader.

He appreciated the people of Shikarpur for standing with the party of Zulifqar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and with him [Bilawal].

In an apparent jibe at PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, the PPP leader said efforts were underway to make a person prime minister for the fourth time.“We have always represented you,” Mr Bhutto-Zardari said, adding that people had trusted the PPP in 2018, and he, being in the opposition, fought for the rights of the people of Sindh.
