CCTV cameras installed, troops deployed for election duty across Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab home department has completed its arrangements for the holding of general elections 2024 in a peaceful manner as it is ensuring installation of CCTV cameras at sensitive-declared polling stations, while the Pakistan Army and Rangers have moved in across the province.

The security arrangements were reviewed by the home department in a video-link meeting with all deputy commissioners, who are also acting as district returning officers (DROs).

The meeting was told that some 12,500 CCTV cameras had been installed at sensitive polling stations, while the remaining 12,500 cameras would be installed by Feb 6 (today) as per the already conveyed deadline.

The deputy commissioners said that the Army and Rangers had reached in districts and they had held coordination meetings as well as provided them vehicles and other logistic support to ensure peace on Feb 8, the polling day.

The deputy commissioners said the army and rangers also participated in flag march in some districts, while a similar activity would be held on Tuesday (today) and Wednesday (tomorrow).
