DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Re-polling in six polling stations of NA-43 Tank-cum-Dera constituency will be held on Monday (Feb 19).
The federal cabinet has also approved deployment of the army to make the polling process peaceful.
District education officer Musrat Hussain Baloch said the polling staff would be dispatched from the office of the Dera deputy commissioner under tight security on Sunday morning.
These polling stations include one in Kot Azam area of Tank district and the remaining five in Kalachi tehsil of Dera. Polling could not be held in these polling stations on Feb 8 in view of the disturbed law and order situation.
The interior ministry had moved a summary to the federal cabinet for approval of army deployment for the re-polling. The cabinet approved the army deployment under Articles 220 and 245 of the Constitution to ensure law and order.
In the Feb 8 elections, independent candidate Dawar Khan Kundi, who was supported by PTI, had bagged 63,556 votes against JUI-F candidate Asad Mahmood’s 62,730.
GANG BUSTED: The Dera police on Saturday arrested two auto thieves and recovered five motorcycles and Rs3.7 million cash they got after selling the stolen vehicles.
An official said the cantonment police arrested the auto thieves, identified as Akram and Ikram.
DSP city Mohammad Adnan told mediapersons that crackdown on auto thieves was launched on the directives of district police officer Abdur Rauf Babar Qaisrani.
