KOHAT: Two teenage boys died and 10 others sustained injuries in separate road accidents here on Sunday, the police and rescue officials said.

They said a tractor and a motorcycle collided near Akhorwal Shamalkhel area of Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision, killing two boys.

They said 10 persons were injured in another accident occurred in Merikhel area of Darra.

Rescue 1122 media coordinator Jawad Afridi said a team reached the spot after the tractor-motorcycle collision and took the injured, identified as Javed Noor, 19, and Haroon, 18, residents of Shabaz Kalay, to a hospital in Darra, where they succumbed to their injuries.

He said the youth were riding the motorcycle.

He said 10 persons were injured in a collision among three vehicles, and they were also moved to the Darra hospital.

They were identified as Imran, Mohammad Alam, Irfan, Haris, Asif, Zahir, Manzoor, Zahid, Sahil and Hasaf belonging to Peshawar.

In a separate development, a disaster management team of Rescue 1122 on Sunday pulled out a boy from a well after he fell into it on Friday in Kohat Enclave area.

Rescue 1122 media coordinator Jawad Afridi said it received an emergency call about a boy seen in the well by a man, after medical and disaster teams were rushed to the area.

He said a rescuer was lowered into the well, who tied a rope around the body of the boy, identified as Rafiullah, and then they pulled him up.

“The boy was in pretty bad shape and was taken to the KDA Teaching Hospital, where he was provided treatment.

The boy’s family had filed a case with the police about his missing,” he said, adding the family told the police that the boy was mentally unstable.

PROTEST THREATENED: Residents of Ghurazi Payan area on the Rawalpindi Road here on Sunday threatened to protest in front of the public health engineering department for giving ‘illegal’ water connections to the service stations and influential people from their water supply scheme.

Speaking at a Jirga, they regretted the ‘illegal’ connections had created water shortage in their area.

The elders said water was released in the main pipelines but due to unlawful connections it did not reach their houses. They alleged the department facilitated the water theft.
