HYDERABAD, March 4: The district government had set aside an amount of Rs96.6 million to provide basic amenities to Sehresh Nagar, Qasimabad taluka, Hyderabad District Naib Nazim Zafar Rajput said on Thursday.

The district planned to lay a separate water supply pipeline, which would cost Rs60 million, construct a road (Rs.30.4m), and a basic health unit (Rs6.2m) in the underdeveloped area, he said while addressing the inauguration ceremony of a charity hospital established by the Society for Health and Education Development (SHED) at Sehresh Nagar.

He said the construction of a road from Sehresh Nagar to Kotri Bridge had also been included in the district development plans. Besides, the district would also set up a primary school at Sehresh Nagar under its programme “one primary school for each union council” if it received such request from the UC concerned.

Qasimabad had unfortunately received least attention from previous governments, but he vowed that his government would give top priority to bring Sehresh Nagar at par with other developed areas.

Taluka Naib Nazim, Qasimabad Hyder Bux Shahani urged the government and non-government organizations in his speech to solve the problems of his taluka, which he said was in a shambles.

Nazim UC-I, Qasimabad Parvaiz Ranjha supported the district’s plans for Qasimabad, and hoped the residents of Sehresh Nagar would see them realised soon.

EDO Health Dr Nazar Muhammad Junejo said a two-bed CCU had been set up in Qasimabad with the help of district government, which also provided food and medical facilities free of charge to the patients.

Referring to a news item that the provincial government was planning to appoint doctors and the paramedical staff on contract basis, he hoped the Qasimabad hospital too would get required staff.

Dr Junejo said the NGOs should create awareness among masses about hygiene and cleanliness to help reduce diseases and number of patients. They (NGOs) should convince people to get their children vaccinated at government centres for prevention of Hepatitis ‘B’, he added.

The chairman of SHED Dr. Najeeb Memon said earlier in his welcome address that the hospital had been established on self-help basis and it would invite specialists from LUMHS and Aga Khan Hospital to attend to poor patients.
