Lawyer Jibran Nasir has urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to suspend the notifications of returned candidates it issued and redo the process of results consolidation.

In a post on X, Nasir, who is representing PTI-backed independent candidates in a case challenging the tabulation of February 8 poll results, said he requested the ECP to direct all returning officers (ROs) to consolidate Forms-45 in the presence of candidates so the “real winners can be declared winners officially as well”.

He said that none of the reports by the ROs challenged the authenticity of Forms-45 produced by the candidates, nor did the reports claim that the candidate was present at the time of consolidation.

The rights activist, who also contested the February 8 polls, claimed that all ROs from Karachi “appear to have copy-pasted each other’s reports”. “Not a single RO produced their own copies of Forms-45 to counter” those presented by the candidates, he stated.
