KOHAT: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Mohammad Ibraheem on Wednesday promised to write a letter to the authorities concerned for the establishment of a high court bench in Kohat, which has been a longstanding demand of the lawyers.

He stated this while addressing lawyers in the district bar room.

Earlier, a smartly-turned out contingent of police presented the chief justice a guard of honour on his arrival here. Judges of the district courts and lawyers were also present on the occasion.

Justice Ibraheem also inaugurated a mosque, two new blocks for judges, announced two computers and a digital library on an urgent basis.

On the occasion, president of Kohat Bar Association Mir Ajam said the establishment of the high court bench would greatly benefit the litigants, particularly the elderly.

ARRESTS: The Hangu police on Wednesday arrested a man for killing his brother over a family dispute.

The police said Asad had killed his brother, Mohammad Umer, near Qazi Pump area of Hangu.

Meanwhile, the Junglekhel police of Kohat rounded up 12 suspects and two facilitators of criminals during intelligence-based operations in Ghamkol Afghan refugee camps on Wednesday.

A statement issued from the office of the district police officer said two pistols, a rifle, hundreds of cartridges and 110 grams of ice drug were also seized from them. The suspects were moved to the police station.
