KARACHI: Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA) Chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan has strongly proposed that the ongoing plans, policies and initiatives should continue to enable IT exporters to stay on course with the growth momentum.
The export performance of the IT industry in 7MFY24 has been steady and resilient despite various odds as it earned $1.7 billion in foreign exchange as compared to $1.5bn during the same period last year, showing a growth of 13pc, he said in a statement.
Outlining the key policy initiatives, he demanded that the Pakistan Startup Fund; eRozgaar Centres, 50pc retention of foreign earnings, certification of 75,000 IT professionals; enabling 5G Spectrum, establishment of Telecom Tribunal and investment facilitation through Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) should continue in the broader national interest. The success of these initiatives lies in execution and continuity in policies by the next government, he added.
IT exports stood at $265 million in January demonstrating year-on-year 39pc growth and this export would contribute towards economic stabilisation and reducing current account deficit, he said.
