BAHAWALPUR: Five people, including two racers and three young motorcyclists, were seriously injured in three accidents at the jeep rally site in Cholistan on Saturday.

The Rescue 1122 officials told Dawn that the jeep rally participants identified as Muhammad Ali (28) from Multan and Muhammad Naeem (35) from Sindh were seriously injured when their vehicles overturned near Bhanuwala track. The racers suffered injuries to the backbone also and were shifted to Derawar Fort basic health unit (BHU).

Three youths were injured when their bike was hit by a speeding car near jeep rally track which remained intact and did not damage in Cholistan, about 80-kms from here.

According to Rescue 1122 personnel, Muhammad Shahid (26), Samiullah (24) and third unidentified riding a motorcycle were on their way to see jeep rally when a car driver hit their two-wheeler, injuring them, and managed to escape from the scene.

After first aid, they were shifted to Derwar Fort BHU from where they were shifted to Ahmedpur East THQ hospital.

Police sources said the motorcycle of the injured was impounded and a case against the car driver registered.
