RHODES: Jews and Egyptians today [Feb 2] ended their nine-month strife in Palestine when they signed a General Armistice agreement ruling out “any warlike or hostile act” between [their] forces. [They] agreed to the formation of a mixed Armistice Commis­sion, whose Chairman will … be responsible for ensuring demilitarisation of the area of el-Auja village (near the Egyptian frontier).

All prisoners of war, including those against whom penal prosecutions are pending and those sentenced for any offence, are to be exchanged … within 21 days of the signature of the Armistice. The agreement lays down that the demarcation line agreed between the two parties … “is delineated without prejudice to rights, claims and positions or either party to the Armistice as regards ultimate settlement of the Palestine question”. — News agencies
