LAKKI MARWAT: Locals have asked the government to take notice of poor road infrastructure and put in place all available resources to improve the condition of urban and rural roads in the district.

They were speaking at an online e-kutchery convened by the assistant commissioner, Yasir Nazir, here on Monday. People from different walks of life participated in it virtually and shed light on problems faced by them.

Ghaffar Khan, a local, complained about snail’s pace work on Shahtora road and demanded removal of illegally built speed breakers.

“The broken roads are causing inconvenience to people in Lakki city,” said Rafiq Marwat and Noor Aslam. They said that district administration should ensure removal of sand and soil from roads through municipal workers in the urban locality. They also demanded repair and maintenance of potholed roads.

Akbar Jan, another participant of the event, said that government spent millions on construction of old Kutchery road under beatification project but authorities did not bother to remove power pylons from the urban artery.

People also demanded releasing funds for construction of Manjiwala-Naurang and Matora roads.

They criticised Pesco for excessive power outages. Hamidullah Khan, a resident of Chunai Mastikhel, said that his village had been without electricity for the last four days.

People also demanded of authorities to improve law and order in the district. They asked district administration to give honorarium to prayer leaders without further delay.

The assistant commissioner assured them that the problems highlighted by them would be resolved on a priority basis. He said that the administration would share all issues and complaints with relevant authorities within 24 hours.
