Today’s session for speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly again began with ruckus and sloganeering, with outgoing speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf repeatedly calling for order in the House.
“No member can raise slogans, wave placards,” he said. “This is the role, it was necessary to remind you.”
In response to Ashraf’s speech, slogans were chanted by members of the Sunni Ittehad Council, the new home of PTI-backed MNAs. Despite the speaker’s warning, lawmakers continued with their sloganeering.
“Experts on Constitution and law seem to be seated on both sides of this House,” Ashraf quipped.
