HYDERABAD, March 6: The Hyderabad chapter of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) warned on Monday it would take the case of party’s provincial vice-president’s arrest to court and launch a protest movement if he was not released within 24 hours.

Speaking at news conference at the Hyderabad Press Club, PKMAP Hyderabad president Azad Khan Khilji said that police had arrested Saleem Khan Tareen from Latifabad No7 at 2.30pm on March 4 on charges of leading a protest demonstration of the MMA in Zeal Pak Colony, Tando Mohammad Khan Road on March 3.

He claimed that the party had neither given any call for protest nor supported MMA’s strike, and Tareen had been implicated in a false case. Mr Khilji demanded of the prime minister, the federal minister for interior, the Sindh chief minister and the IGP to order an inquiry into the arrest and award exemplary punishment to those who had implicated Mr Tareen in a fabricated case.

He appealed to the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement and all the political and nationalist parties to raise their voice against the injustice.
