ISLAMABAD: A local court on Wednesday extended the physical remand of vlogger Asad Ali Toor in a case pertaining to an online campaign against state institutions.

Toor was arrested on Feb 26 and produced before the judicial magistrate who handed over his custody to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for five-day physical remand. The remand was extended for three days.

The prosecution produced Toor before the senior civil judge/judicial magistrate of the FIA and sought his custody for further investigation.

His counsel, Hadi Ali Chattha, opposed the request and argued that the court would inquire from the investigation agency about the outcome of his seven-day remand.

He argued that Toor never denied his vlogs therefore there was nothing to be recovered.

The prosecutor, on the other hand, insisted the court to extend further remand for interrogation.

The judge reserved the order for a while and then extended the physical remand for two days.
