LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s incarcerated Senator, Ejaz Chaudhry, has said he and other party leaders are in jails for over 10 months, but justice is not being dispensed to them.

Mr Chaudhry was brought to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology for a medical check-up on Friday. He thanked Senate’s acting chairman Mirza Afridi for issuing the production orders to enable him to attend the Senate session.

However, it is learnt, arrangements could not be made to facilitate Mr Chaudhry to attend the Senate session. The jail administration has stated that it did not receive his production orders.

The senator said hundreds of innocent party workers were arrested and added that he was appearing before courts and waiting for dispensation of justice.

“I am an under-trial prisoner for the past 10 months and the Senate chairman did not issue my production orders even once,” he lamented.

Mr Chaudhry said the nation had given a heavy mandate to the PTI but it was stolen. He stressed the courts must ensure that the “stolen mandate” be returned to those enjoying trust of the nation. “Nations that do not give due importance to the public always remain on bumpy roads,” he warned.
