LAHORE: A woman was allegedly pushed down from the rooftop of her house by her husband and his parents for not cooking food “properly” in Gulshan-e-Ravi area here on Friday.

Identified as Maryam, the woman suffered head and neck injuries and was rushed to hospital where her condition was stated to be critical.

On being informed of the incident, the police rushed to the scene and launched an inquiry.

Police sources say that in her statement, which has been made part of the first information report (FIR) registered against her husband Shahzad and his parents, she said that her spouse got enraged over lack of spice in the ‘chicken Karahi’ she had prepared for lunch. As she argued that spicy food was not good for his health, Shahzad exchanged hot words with her and started beating her.

She alleged that Shahzad was joined by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, and they pushed her down in the street from the upper storey of the house with an intention to kill her.

The police claim that none of the suspects has so far been taken into custody.

CAR KILLS BOY: A boy died after being hit by a rashly-driven car in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) here on Friday.

The police say that in Phase IV of DHA in Defence C area, 10-year-old Bilal, son of a security guard, was playing in the street when he was hit by a rashly-driven car.

He said the unidentified driver sped away after hitting the boy, who died on the spot because of critical injuries.

The police are trying to trace the driver with the help of the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the area.

A case has been lodged against the unidentified suspect, the police adds.

SHOT DEAD: A Canada-returned man was shot dead in Nawankot area, the police said here on Friday.

Ali Raza, who had returned from Canada a week ago, was killed allegedly by unidentified men on Sunday last.

A police official said the wife of the deceased man had been taken into custody over her doubtful role in the murder case.

He said she wanted to marry her daughter with a man of her choice but her husband opposed her decision.

Apparently, it seems that she had got her husband killed over the same grudge.

Further investigations were under way, the police official said, adding that the body has been shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.
