NAWABSHAH: A total of 533 graduates and postgraduates were awarded degrees, in addition to 23 gold, 22 silver and 22 bronze medals among toppers, at the 6th convocation of the Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women here on Saturday.

The degrees were conferred on 460 graduates of MBBS, DPT, Pharmacy, BSPH, BSNG and 73 postgraduates in 17 disciplines.

Higher Education Commission’s chairman Prof Dr S.M. Tariq Rafi, who was chief guest on the occasion, congratulated the fresh graduates and their parents and hoped that the graduates would serve in their respective fields with honesty and dedication.

He said that no nation could prosper without higher education of women and urged the parents to provide quality education to their daughters for the development of a better society.

The university’s vice chancellor, Prof Dr Gulshan Ali Memon, said that Sindh’s first women university had produced thousands of graduates, who were serving the ailing humanity in different parts of the country as well as abroad.

He said that the university was providing state-of-the-art quality education in various disciplines of medical and health sciences.
