MUZAFFARGARH: Layyah police claimed on Monday to have arrested a suspect who allegedly demanded Rs5 million extortion from a doctor.

Layyah District Police Officer Asadur Rehman said some days back suspect Sher Zaman using a WhatsApp number had threatened Dr Tayyab Araien and his family. Dr Tayyab contacted the police with voice messages and calls.

The Layyah police formed a team, led by City Station House Officer Iftikhar Irfan, leading to the successful tracing and arrest of the suspect.

RAPE CASE: Kot Addu Saddar police have registered a rape case against a fake diploma holder doctor who allegedly assaulted a nine-year-old girl at Taunsa Mor, some 7-km from city area.

Reports said a woman approached the police, stating that her minor daughter visited a clinic for treatment for pain in teeth.

The suspect administered a pain killer injection to her and allegedly raped her. The medical examination has confirmed rape.

Saddar police have registered a case against the suspect and arrested him.
