Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that a security audit of the jails in Adiala, Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan was being conducted due to recent alerts.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar referred to a two-week prohibition on all public meetings at the Adiala jail — a move decried by the PTI as an excuse to restrict meetings with ex-premier Imran Khan.

The minister clarified that the ban was imposed for all prisoner meetings due to security risks.

“When security concerns are expressed, it is mandatory that there is due diligence and you take precautions.”
