PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat has challenged the Punjab Home Department’s order which, on Tuesday, imposed a two-week ban on all public visits, meetings and interviews at Adiala jail, citing “security” threats.

PTI leaders decried this order and deemed it a deliberate plan to stop them from meeting party founder Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated at the facility.

Speaking to the media today, Marwat said the Home Department has not quoted any legal provision in the order, adding that it does not have the authority to issue such an order.

“We have challenged this order [in the Lahore High Court], and the case is being heard today, we hope that by 1pm this case comes before a single bench,” he said.

“I have also requested an interim injunction to put a stop to orders restricting meetings.”
