CM orders release of Rs3bn to buy modern arms, equipment for police

They said currently, personnel from police stations were deployed at such places, but they would be replaced by officials of the proposed security division.

The officials said the new force’s deployment at sensitive installations would be permanent.

The chief minister also ordered the release Rs3 billion to procure the latest weaponry and equipment for the province’s police.

The amount will be spent on the procurement of armoured personnel carriers, enabling the force to effectively deal with prevailing law and order challenges in the province, according to the statement.

Mr Gandapur also issued directions for the speedy execution of the safe city project in all divisional headquarters.

He asked the police to allocate a one-time special employment quota for legal heirs of martyred personnel and said a proper case for the purpose should be prepared for approval by the provincial cabinet.

Approval of that quota will lead to the immediate recruitment of the martyred police personnel’s children, who have long been awaiting jobs in the police department.

In the meeting, the chief minister announced that the heirs of martyred police personnel would be covered by the government’s Ramazan Relief Package.

He added that those families would also be provided with Rs10,000 in cash.

Mr Gandapur also directed the police to formulate a viable policy for providing security to very important persons in the province.
