LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday informed the Lahore High Court that no detention order had been issued for the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati.

Assistant Advocate General Khwaja Mohsin Abbas submitted a report on behalf of the home department in response to a petition by the PTI leader.

The report maintained that the home secretary did not issue any detention order against the petitioner. The law officer stated that the Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) had already submitted details of the cases against the petitioner.

Mr Swati filed the petition seeking details of cases against him.

In light of the government’s report, Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry disposed of the petition.

The anti-terrorism courts in Lahore had declared Swati a proclaimed offender in several cases of May 9 riots.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court on Friday disposed of a petition by anchorperson Imran Riaz, seeking details of cases registered against him by different law-enforcement agencies.

A federal law officer told the court that one case was registered against the petitioner by the cybercrime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

A law officer of the Punjab government stated that four cases had been registered by police against the petitioner in Sangla Hill, Chakwal, Nankana Sahib and Attock.

He said five other cases against the petitioner had already been discharged.

In light of the reports, the court disposed of the petition by the anchorperson.
