KARACHI: A young woman was killed and her two sisters were injured in a hit-and-run accident in Defence Housing Authority on Sunday, police and rescue services said.

They said that the accident took place at Defence Mor near the mega centre of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).

Defence SHO Shaukat Awan said that three women were crossing the road when an unidentified car ran them over.

Rescuers took the wounded to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors declared Iqra Muneeb, 26, dead. Her sisters, Naureen Munib, and Ambreen Munib, were admitted for treatment.

The SHO said their relatives took away the body and moved the injured to a private hospital for further treatment.

He said no one had so far approached the police for initiating legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, a teenager was killed and another injured in a road accident in Baldia Town on Sunday.

Rescue services said that Haris Rahim and Kabeer Waheed were riding a motorbike when a trailer hit them on Suparco Road near the Edhi graveyard. As a result, Haris, 18, died.
