LAHORE: The indictment of PTI President Parvez Elahi in two corruption cases was delayed once again on Tuesday as officials of the Adiala jail, Rawalpindi, did not present him before respective courts, citing medical reasons.
Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Tahir submitted a medical report before the courts saying Mr Elahi fell in the washroom of his cell on March 17 and suffered a minor injury.
He said the jail’s doctors have advised the former chief minister against travel for two weeks.
At this, a special court for anti-corruption delayed the indictment of Mr Elahi and other suspects in a case of alleged illegal appointments made in the Punjab Assembly.
The court adjourned the hearing till April 4.
Muhammad Khan Bhatti, former principal secretary to the CM, and other suspects were produced before the court.
The court also issued a notice to the prosecution on the bail petition of Mr Elahi in the case.
Similarly, an accountability court also delayed the indictment of Mr Elahi, Mr Bhatti and other suspects in a NAB reference of receiving kickbacks for releasing funds of the development schemes for Gujrat division. Judge Shahzad Kiyani adjourned the hearing till April 4.
The NAB alleged that Mr Bhatti being the principal secretary to then chief minister Elahi maneuvered the award of contracts in favour of blue-eyed contractors in connivance with other suspects including officials of government departments.
