CHARSADDA: Two people including an employee of federal ministry of defence were killed in separate incidents in the district on Tuesday.

The first incident occurred in the limits of City police station. Dr Javed told police that his son Mohsin left his house along with his friend Ilyas. Later, he was informed that body of his son was lying in the local hospital.

Police filed a report against Ilyas and started investigation.

In the second incident, Umar Hayat, an employee of the ministry of defence, was killed by his rivals when he was going to Islamabad for performing duty.

Police lodged FIR against Khaista Rudin, Roail and Adil. The reason for the murder was said be old enmity.

DHO: The newly-appointed district health officer, Dr Wasiullah, has said that strict legal action will be taken against the negligent employees.

He was talking to members of Muhammadzai Union of Journalists during an awareness walk for prevention of dengue fever. He said that after taking charge of his office, he visited many basic health units. He added that action was taken against truant officials.

The DHO said that provision of medicines to patients in local hospitals was among his top priorities. He said that efforts were under way to address the issue of shortage of drugs at hospitals, BHUs and other health facilities in the district.

He said that provision of quality health facilities to patients at BHUs would reduce burden on tehsil and district level hospitals. He said that situation would improve to a great extent within a month.

Dr Wasiullah urged people to take preventive measures against dengue fever. He said that dengue virus spread through storage of clean water in houses and at public palaces. People should avoid storing water in washrooms, pots, tyres and other items and keep water containers covered, he added.

He said that mosquitoes bit people at sunset and sunrise times so people should cover their bodies. He also advised people to use mosquito nets. He said that dengue virus could be controlled through collective efforts.
