SWAT: Two persons died and six others sustained injuries when a speeding car rammed into a roadside wall in Shingardar area of Barikot tehsil here on Tuesday.

Ghaligey police station officials said Saad Khan and Naeemullah died on the spot, and Mohammad Riaz, Rashid, Farman, Yasin, Faisal and Hasnain, residents of Balogram area, were injured. The bodies were handed over to their families and the injured were shifted to Brikot Hospital.

Meanwhile, workers and leaders of PTI Swat chapter staged a protest rally at Kabal Chowk on Tuesday, calling for the release of the party founder Imran Khan.

The rally saw a significant turnout of party members and local leaders. MNA Sohail Sultan and Kabal tehsil chairman Saeed Khan led the rally.

Also present were MPAs Sultan Rome, Hameedur Rahman, former MPA Haji Fazal Maula, tehsil council speaker Hayat Khan and others.

They also carried placards demanding the release of Imran Khan and disclosure of the whereabouts of Murad Saeed, who has been in the hiding since the May 9, 2023 riots.
