DADU: Leaders of the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) have boycotted by-election on PS-80 (Khairpur Nathan Shah) in Dadu district scheduled for April 21. The seat had fallen vacant after the death of Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Abdul Aziz Junejo.

A total of 12 candidates have submitted nomination forms for the seat but the GDA did not file any nomination forms.

Karim Ali Khan Jatoi, son of GDA leader Liaquat Ali Jatoi, had participated in Feb 8 general election on the alliance’s ticket but he or any other candidate of the GDA did not file nomination forms.

GDA leader Sardar Ashiq Zounr confirmed to Dawn that the Jatoi family had boycotted the by-election on PS-80 on the orders of the alliance’s leadership. The Feb 8 general elections were widely rigged as the PPP had stolen peoples’ mandate in Sindh that day, he said.
