LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has declined Central Punjab general secretary and acting president Hammad Azhar’s resignation from party offices.

In hiding since May 9, Azhar had on Wednesday submitted his resignations from his party offices, expressing his inability to represent the party on the ground.Late on Friday night, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Khan tweeted that founding chairman Imran Khan had declined to accept the resignation.

In his tweet from his X handle, Gohar Khan urged Mr Azhar to continue performing his organisational duties with full zeal and dedication. “Mr Azhar has the full confidence of Imran Khan, me and the entire party,” Gohar Khan stated.

Responding, Azhar said he considered Imran’s trust in him as a matter of honour.

“I will strive to ensure that Imran’s trust is never hurt by me,” he added.
