KARACHI: Governor Kamran Tessori on Saturday conferred various civil awards on 76 personalities in recognition of their services in relevant fields on Pakistan Day.

The awards were announced on August 14, 2023 by then president Arif Alvi.

An investiture ceremony was held on Saturday at Governor House, where Mr Tessori awarded 18 people with Sitara-i-Imtiaz, eight people with Presiden­tial Pride of Performance, seven with Tamgha-i-Shujaat and 43 people with Tamgha-i-Imtiaz.

Prominent among those who got the awards included former Ruet-i-Hilal Committee chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman, businessman Arif Habib, actor Adnan Siddiqui, classical dancer and rights activist Sheema Kermani, philanthropist Zafar Abbas of JDC.

Sitara-i-Imtiaz

Those who got Sitara-i-Imtiaz are religious scholar Mufti Muneebur Rehman, businessman Arif Habib, former Sindh chief secretary Sohail Rajput, former inspector general of Sindh police Dr Kaleem Imam, Jinnah Sindh Medical University Vice Chancellor Amjad Siraj Memon, Prof Mohammad Farooq Hasan, Malaika Junaid, Satish Anand, Saira Furqan, Abdul Wahid Musqatiya, Saeed Allahwala, Amina Ali Gini, Dr Amanullah Qasim Machhiara, Abdul Aziz Memon, Marvin Frances Lobo, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Duraid Qureshi and Dr Naeem Al-Zafar.

Tamgha-i-Imtiaz

As many as 43 people were awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz. They were: Dr. Khalid Bin Shaheen, Syed Naqi Haider Naqvi, Zubair Imam Malik, Muralidhar Dawani, Dr Muhammad Ajmal Sawand (martyr), Dr Hasan Imran Afridi, Anwar Amjad, Prof Nadeem Qamar, Prof Muhammad Iqbal Afridi, Dr Yasir Arafat Gabol, Dr. Owais Ahmad Lakhyar, Arbab Khan Khoso, Dr Asma Ibrahim, Syed Ghalib Baqir, Ghulam Abbas Khaskheli, Mushtaq Ali Lashari, Banda Ali, Muhammad Rahmatullah Khan Daryazai, Khan Shah Nawaz Malhi, S A Rind, Fiza Ali Mirza, Dr Syed Aqeel Abbas Jafari, Ali Dost Ajiz, Anwar Sen Roy, Dr Mushtaq Ali Laghari, Zahid Saeed, Saleem Razzaq Tabani, Dr Syed Saifur Rehman, Fazal Karim Dadabhai, Syed Zafar Abbas, Muhammad Asif Jameel, Syed Murtaza Ali Shah, Farooq Mehboob, Afaq Ahmad Qureshi, Haji Masood Parekh, Ziaullah Khan, Hasan Qutbuddin Syed, Dr Shafqatullah Sheikh (deceased), Wilayat Ali Gopang (deceased), Dr Qurban Ali Soomro (deceased), Abdul Khaliq (deceased), Muhammad Usman (deceased) and Dr Zubaidah Sattar.

Pride of Performance

The governor gave Presidential Pride of Performance awards to Dahai Bai, also known as Mai Dhai, Abdul Jabbar Gul, Qadir Bakhsh Mithu, Adnan Siddiqui, Mashkoor Raza Khan, Sheema Kermani, Naseer Baig Mirza and Afzal Ahmed Syed.

Tamgha-i-Shujaat

The governor awarded Tamgha-i-Shujaat to Abdul Malik Bhutto (martyr), Abdul Malik Kamangr (martyr), Deen Muhammad Leghari (martyr), Muhammad Salim Chachar (martyr), Muhammad Arshad Khan Jadoon (martyr) and Abdul Nasser.
