KARACHI: A policeman and a passer-by were shot at and wounded during an encounter in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on early Saturday morning.

Police said the encounter took place between Shaheen Force personnel and two suspected robbers riding a motorbike in Block-14.

During an exchange of gunfire, Constable Mohammed Essa, 27, and passer-by Asif suffered bullet wounds and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The police said that the suspects managed to escape from the scene.

Woman among three street criminals held

Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three suspected street criminals including, a woman.

Korangi SSP Hassan Sardar said the Awami Colony police during patrolling arrested three suspects, identified as Shahzad, Amir Ali and Uroosa.

The SSP added that it was a gang of robbers who used the suspect woman for committing crimes. They were addicted to hashish and Ice. The police claimed to have recovered two pistols and a stolen motorbike from their custody.
