LAHORE: Field teams on the SNGPL on Sunday disconnected another 55 connections and imposed Rs1.3 million fine on gas pilferers.

According to a company spokesman in Lahore, the regional team disconnected two connections on illegal use of gas while another two on use of compressor.

In Multan, four connections were disconnected for gas pilferage and five for use of compressor.

In Sahiwal, two connections were disconnected for illegal use of gas. In Sheikhupura, 08 connections were disconnected on illegal use of gas.

In Faisalabad, the team disconnected two connections on illegal use of gas. Meanwhile, the teams of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) on Sunday detected another 449 connections from where customers were pilfering electricity in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Okara.

A company spokesman told media that the company has also submitted FIR applications against electricity thieves, out of which 235 FIRs have been registered by respective police stations.

The spokesman said large commercial consumers were also found involved in electricity theft and all of them were also disconnected and charged with detection units.

Among the seized connections, 16 were commercial, one agricultural, two industrial and 430 domestic. All these connections were disconnected and charged with a total of 373,645 units having detection bill amounting to Rs 11.360 million.
