No other agency is able to provide life-saving assistance in Gaza in the same way as UNRWA, Natalie Boucly, the deputy commissioner general of the UN agency, has said.
Boucly said in a social media post that attempts to “isolate” UNRWA will result in more people dying.
Israeli authorities have reportedly informed the UN they will no longer allow UNRWA food convoys to reach the north of the Gaza Strip.
“UNRWA is part of the UN and it was given a specific mandate by the General Assembly,” Boucly added.
UNRWA was created by the UN General Assembly on December 8, 1949, to provide basic support including food, healthcare and education to tens of thousands of Palestinian refugees.
