PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi inaugurated student service centre (SSC) at University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar on Monday.

The newly-established centre, equipped with modern technology, will facilitate students in their academic matters such as transcripts, course registration and degree clearance etc.

The minister was received by UET Vice-chancellor Prof Qaisar Ali. He said that SSC would be equipped with modern technology and trained staff to reduce the wait time and facilitate students. UET deans, senior faculty and officials of administration were present on the occasion.

The minister said that promoting engineering education and facilitating students of the remote areas of KP was a sacred mission of UET that should be appreciated. He congratulated Prof Qaisar Ali and his team for opening up the centre to solve issues of students through modern technology.

“This initiative aligns with the university’s vision of creating a vibrant educational environment that prepares youth to become leaders,” he said and lauded Prof Qaisar Ali for his student-centric approach.

Talking to journalists on the occasion, the minister said that government would soon share sustainable financial model for the universities to steer them out of the financial crisis. He advocated promotion of high standard of engineering education based on the demand of market. He appreciated the UET Peshawar for an extensive research portfolio and international linkages.

Later, the vice-chancellor gave a presentation to him about UET Peshawar’s activities, research portfolio and financial problems.
