SWABI: Two teenagers were killed in a road accident, while a man was shot dead by unidentified assailants here on Tuesday, Rescue 1122 officials and police said.

Afnan Khan, 15, and Fakhar Zaman, 16, who hailed from Chota Lahor city, were seriously injured when their motorcycle fell into a drain near Government Boys Degree College, Chota Lahor, on the Swabi-Jehangira Road.

A rescue team reached the spot and shifted them to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital, Shahmansoor, where both succumbed to their injuries.

Meanwhile, rivals killed a man in Palosai village when he was on way home, the police said.

DSP Jawad Khan said the firing left the man critically injured, and he was taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, whose doctors pronounced him dead. The cause of the incident was stated to be an old enmity. The police registered an FIR and started investigation.

Meanwhile, people on Tuesday caught a man stealing different items from a mosque in Yarakhel village of Marghuz.

Later, the elders informed the police, who took the custody of the man.

Residents said a number of theft incidents had occurred in mosques and shops in Marghuz area during last few days.

OFFICE-BEARERS: Jalil Ahmad Khan and Muqaddam Khan were elected as president and general secretary of the Swabi Press Club, respectively, says a statement issued here on Tuesday.

Other office-bearers included Shaukat Anjum senior vice-president, Mohammad Shoaib vice-president, Sayed Arif Shah joint secretary, Mohammad Adil joint secretary-II and Mohammad Iqbal finance secretary.
