NAWABSHAH: Unidentified armed men shot dead an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Khairpur police on Sunday near Bhriya Road in Naushahro Feroze district.

ASI Noor Mohammed Lashari was on his way to Kot Lalu police station (Khairpur) when he was attacked along Bhriya Road linking Pacca Chang Road. The killers fled after killing him.

Iqbal Lashari, nephew of the victim, told reporters that his uncle was posted at Kot Lalu police station; he was going to join duty when some unknown armed men shot him dead near Shan Cotton Factory.

Bhriya Road police went to the spot and shifted the body to a nearby hospital for an autopsy.

Deceased ASI’s son Qalander Bakhsh Lashari told the police that his father had no enmity with anyone. The outlaws had not looted anything as his mobile and motorcycle were found at the crime scene, he said.

Dr Haresh Kumar who examined the body at Bhriya City Hospital said that the deceased received four bullets fired from a close range.

Naushahro Feroze SSP Saddam Hussain Khaskheli told the media that the martyred ASI was a resident of Khairpur and posted at Kot Lalu police station. An investigation was under way, he added.
