SWABI: The police on Sunday traced a blind murder case by arresting the deceased’s wife and her alleged paramour.

Officials said that Faisal Khan, belonging to Yar Hussain village, was killed on March 17.

They said that the two had hired an assassin, Rahim Khan, to execute the task. They said they were looking for Rahim.

The officials said immediately after the man’s murder, his wife had lodged an FIR against unknown persons. However, they said the police got suspicious.

The officials said data of phone calls between the woman and her lover was traced, leading them to reach the culprits.

The police said the woman confessed to have got her husband killed to marry the other man.

Meanwhile, four people were injured during a clash in a mosque over who should lead the prayers as pesh Imam in Kalu Khan village.

Kalu Khan SHO Munsif Khan told Dawn that the injured included Majid Khan, Mohammad Tayyab, Abdullah and Qayyum Khan.

The injured were shifted to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital, Shahmansoor.

The police have registered separate FIRs and started investigation.

DISTINCTION: Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology has clinched 26th position and become champion from Pakistan in the Asian West Continent International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) final simultaneously held at GIK Institute, in India and Bangladesh, according to a statement issued here on Sunday.

Top three teams from Pakistan participated in the event.

Team AC-47 from GIK Institute solved three complicated problems and got overall 26th position and became champion from Pakistan, the statement said.

The other two teams were from Punjab University College of Information Technology, Lahore, and FAST-National University of Computer and Engineering Sciences, Karachi, which solved two problems each and secured 51th and 60th positions, respectively.

A total 72 teams from leading universities from the Asia West region participated in the contest.

Teams were selected on the basis of their performance in the regional rounds held earlier in Asia West region at Amritapuri, Chennai, Kanpur, Dhaka, Kabul, Tehran and GIK Institute in Pakistan.

The organisers said this year the Asia West Continent championship was a multi-site contest.

Speaking in the occasion, Prof Masroor Hussain, Regional Director, ICPC Asia West Pakistan, said teams from Pakistan, especially the GIK Institute, showed a tremendous improvement, and the prospects were very bright that in future their skills and capability would be boosted further.
