ISLAMABAD: A Constitution amendment Bill, deleting a clause relating to former East Pakistan now Bangladesh, was introduced in the National Assembly this evening [April 15] by Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Abdul Hafeez Pirzada. Called the Constitution (First Amendment) Bill, it amends 11 Articles and first Schedule of the Constitution for different purposes.

Clause (three) of Article one ... relating to East Pakistan, which the Bill seeks to omit, says: the Constitution shall be appropriately amended so as to enable the people of the Province of East Pakistan, as and when foreign aggression in that Province and its effects are eliminated, to be represented in the affairs of the Federation. The Bill will come up for consideration in the House ... after it has been received back from the concerned standing committee. — News agencies
