DURING the recent board examinations of class X, the disappointing, rather shameful trend of malpractice was once again on display. The education system is such that our young minds are taught to be a part of the race for ‘better’ marks, with the ‘better’ meaning something more than what one deserves.

Instead of working hard and believing in their capabilities, some students rely on malpractices. It is only understandable that when these ‘qualified’ individuals will step into their professional life, they will use every unfair tactic they adopted during their academic career.

Point to ponder is that these individuals are being trained by the system to achieve high scores and be among the toppers, instead of being honest and straightforward towards their assignments and be diligent.

As such, the young generation must be groomed to be self-reliant, and not to use unfair means in examinations. They must be encouraged to be among the trendsetters and those who prefer integrity and honesty rather than being part of this race for ‘better’ marks.

The government and all its relevant departments must pay attention to this critical issue because it is directly associated with the future of the nation.
