PAKISTAN-IRAN RELATIONS: The visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan was a significant step forward in the realm of bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries whose relations in the recent past have been somewhat frosty. Besides, as key players in South Asia and the Middle East, Islamabad and Tehran are bound together with economic, religious affiliations and strategic interests. Since both countries share a common border, this has resulted in security complications. Economic cooperation is one of the key aspects of this relationship. Defence relations need to be bolstered in order to maintain security along the common border. Cross-border terrorism is a strain on brotherly relations. This ought to be dealt with in a cohesive manner.

KITE-FLYING BAN: This year saw a new and terrifying threat in the shape of chemical kite-flying strings, which are incredibly sharp and pose a lethal risk to motorcyclists. In fact, the act of flying a kite should not come at the cost of a human life. A complete ban on the sale of chemical string and manufacture is urgently required. Public awareness campaigns are also crucial to educate people about the dangers associated with the use of these deadly strings.
