DESPITE several attempts to privatise the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), nothing concrete has emerged so far. The vacillation of successive govern-ments on the matter has only perpetuated the cycle of mismanagement and losses. Privatisation holds the promise of transforming PIA into a more efficient and competitive entity, devoid of bureaucratic constraints.
It is imperative that the government takes decisive action to expedite the privatisation process and salvage the airline from going further down the spiral.
Only then can we hope to see an end to the recurrent disruptions and financial haemorrhage afflicting the airline which was once a symbol of national pride.
