ISLAMABAD: Capital police booked a former Azad Kashmir prime minister and others for trying to occupy the office of a family business and threatening and beating the staff, police said on Wednesday.
The case was registered with Margalla police station in response to a complaint lodged by Deputy Security In-charge Centaurus Mall retired Col Tipu Sultan Awan.
The police said Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, who served as the prime minister of Azad Kashmir, along with Anil Sultan Rizwan, Mohammad Ali and around 25 unidentified persons, all armed with weapons, entered the office of Pak Gulf Construction located on Tower A after breaking the locks and beating up the guard, Imdad Ali.
On getting information, the deputy security in-charge Centaurus Mall reached the office and found the injured guard as well as the trespassers, police said, adding that Tanveer Ilyas fired at the deputy security in-charge with the intention to kill him, but missed the target.
In the meantime, other staff also reached the office, the police said, adding that Tanveer Ilyas encouraged his accomplices to occupy the office and take all records in their custody.
He also abused and used foul language against the deputy security in-charge, staff and his siblings whom he threatened with dire consequences, they said.
