QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has affirmed his administration’s commitment to merit-based appointments, stating that no junior officer will be elevated through political influence.
Presiding over a meeting, Mr Bugti emphasised the government’s dedication to good governance and announced that reforms are being planned to enhance this.
Mr Bugti expressed his concern over the junior officers’ use of political influence in their appointments to senior posts and stressed that his government would not accept this practice.
“The junior officers should not aspire to attain senior positions for personal gain,” he said, adding that counselling officers was necessary in this regard. He said politicians should understand the importance of adhering to merit and refraining from recommending illegal appointments.
He said it was a bitter reality that officers adhering to principles often faced criticism, and most of their service was spent as officers on special duty.
