SAHIWAL: A landlord tortured his farm worker to death for quitting job at village Chak Bheela of district Pakpattan on Sunday.

Zahid, 45, a landless farm worker, was employed by Sarfaraz Manika alias Chappa for the last couple of years. Zahid was not happy with the rough working conditions. Besides, he was not paid his dues for the last three months. Two days back, Zahid left the job as well as the Manika farmhouse.

When Sarfaraz came to know about it, he called Zahid back last night. He allegedly constantly tortured Zahid the whole night that resulted in his death. Sarfaraz escaped from the scene. The Saddar Police sent the body of the deceased to the District Headquarters Hospital Pakpattan.

DOG BITE: A four-year-old girl was mauled by stray dogs at Chak 96/6-R on Sunday.

Reports said Kiran, a daughter of Zafar, was walking alone in the street when she was attacked by a pack of dogs. On hearing the cries of the child, the locals rushed to her help and saved her from the dogs. Kiran got severe injuries to her face and arms. Rescue 1122 shifted her to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital where she was stated to be in a stable condition.

BISE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Sahiwal withdrew the condition of attaching the birth certificate for online registration of regular 9th class session of 2024-26. The board had earlier issued a notification for two conditions B-Form and birth certificate for online registration.

The PML-N MPA from Pakpattan Muhammad Javed pointed out to the commissioner that many children, especially from rural areas, don’t have birth certificates and it was difficult for them to get them from union councils within a short period.

The MPA requested the commissioner to remove the condition, which was done.
