GUJAR KHAN: A constable of the Anti-Corruption Police was booked in Jhelum for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl on Monday.
According to police sources, the accused was posted in Rawalpindi and escaped after committing the crime. A case was registered with Civil Lines police station on the complaint of his wife.
According to the first information report (FIR), Sumera Bano, a resident of Islampura Mohallah in Jhelum, stated that she had been looking after her niece since childhood and both resided in the house of her husband. She alleged that on Sunday, her husband dropped her at the house of her maternal uncle while her niece stayed behind.
She said when she returned, she found her niece missing who later told her on telephone that her uncle had raped her after which she had left the house. Bano said she brought her niece back who disclosed that her husband had been assaulting and blackmailing her for days.
Civil Lines Station House Officer (SHO) Imran Hussain said a case had been registered against the accused under section 376i of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and a medical examination of the victim was being carried out. He said the accused would be arrested soon and presented before the court with concrete evidence.
