PESHAWAR: Six terrorists were killed and weapons recovered from their possession by security forces in operations carried out in two southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, the military’s media wing said.

A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the first operation was carried out following the reported presence of terrorists in Dera Ismail Khan. The security forces planned an intelligence-based operation (IBO) and five terrorists were successfully neutralised during the operation, it added.

The ISPR statement said that another gun battle took place in North Waziristan district during which security forces effectively engaged a terrorist location and killed a terrorist identified as Inam Ullah.

Security forces recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the possession of terrorists who, the ISPR added, remained actively involved in numerous militant activities against security forces as well as innocent civilians.

“Sanitisation operation is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area as the security forces are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” the statement said.

On May 4, security forces killed six terrorists and busted their houses in an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan.

The statement said the IBO was planned and carried out following reported presence of terrosists in the area, adding that an intense exchange of fire took place between security forces and terrorists.

The six killed on May 4 were involved in numerous militant activities against security forces and targeted killing of civilians.

On May 2, the military’s media said, three terrorists, including two ringleaders, who were involved in the abduction of a district and sessions judge were killed in a joint operation carried out in Tank district.
